There is a reason people aren’t responding to your social media posts. I may not be a genie but my techniques works like magic.

When I first started my business I knew that I had to stand out from the crowd. I couldn’t just throw facts in a blog post and hope people would rush to sign up for my programs.


I’m going to share with you my secrets that changed my business.  If you follow these tips you too will get customers from your social media accounts.

1. Most people don’t realize they have to engage their readers.  It’s not enough to simply blurt out facts.  Anyone can do this.  You want to take this process deeper and give it meaning.



You want to offer content that your audience is craving.  In order to do this you need to know who your readers are.  What keeps them up at night? What are they missing in their business?



Once you know that you can create content that provides solutions to their problems.  Now this is where most people get off track.  Frankly they get boring.  They start telling you the same thing everyone else is saying.

  1. Don’t SELL! You want to use stories and examples to get your point across.  This creates heartfelt material that people can relate to. Share your testimonials, your awards and accomplishments.


Find creative ways to show people you are successful.  Much better than telling them.  Anyone can do that but can they prove it? 


When you start your blog or promotion have a goal in mind. That means that you know by the end of the piece what you want the person to do.  This can be buying your product, signing up for your webinar or e-mail list etc.



Once you start writing forget about the goal.  Just start talking.  Pretend you are talking to your friend.  Think about this for a second.



Do you throw out facts when you talk to your friends?  No.  You share with them your experience and if they have a problem how to solve it.  You certainly don’t push them or sell them with arrows or big signs.



These things won’t work in 2019!  What does work is an easier softer approach.  Called helping them by sharing your knowledge. You should be doing this with your blog as well.


(If you don’t have a blog you need to get one ASAP! This is where you need to be driving all your traffic from social media to.)


You tell them a little about what happened to you,  the obstacles you encountered and how you resolved that situation.

  1. Don’t over share. There is no reason for you to pour your guts out for all to see.  You want to remember to keep it on a friendly but professional scale.



I see people over share to the point of turning off their readers.  Remember your ultimate goal is that you get this person to hire you or buy something from you.  



There is a fine line on how to accomplish this. You share so people can relate and get to know you.  This is a great way to bond with your readers and turn them into friends.



For instance what you don’t do is bring up things that would make you think twice before you hire that person.



Ask yourself before you get too personal.  If someone shared this information with me would I feel comfortable investing my money and time with them?



It’s important I point out here that you can’t create authentic engaging content if you don’t have any direct experience with it. 



Share Your Unique Experience – How To Turn Your Followers Into Customers



  1. Write about what you know. This way you can share your own unique experience.



The idea here is for them to see you as the go to person in your field. It’s also imperative you build trust. And they should love you. So how can you do this?


To clarify by providing original, creative content.  Content that is relevant to your readers needs. You can make it fun and easy by using great photos.  Using your own funny authentic voice.  And finally giving important facts that they don’t hear every day.


One thing I do is ask my audience thought-provoking questions. I get to know their likes dislikes and discover where they are in their business.  As well as what is stopping them from succeeding.



How To Ask Questions That Give You Insight Into Your Followers Needs

  1. Ask Questions! I asked a question on Instagram awhile ago. It was about what would you do if you won the lottery. What I found out from that post was invaluable.


First of all  I discovered that not one person said they wouldn’t change a thing.  Above all that tells me that everyone who answered that which was about 40-50 people are not where they want to be in their life.


They are all missing something.  I’m sure that goes for most people by the way.


Many of them said they would do things that they could easily do even if they didn’t win the lottery. Which tells me most people feel they have to be financially secure in order to live their dream life.  Not true!  Yet they believe this.


This gave me a wealth of information to use for upcoming posts products and class’s.



Be Original How To Show People You Are A Leader In Your Industry 




  1. Don’t copy people. You will never be considered a leader if you are repeating what everyone else is already talking about.


You can gage how well you’re doing on that front by your comments.  You want to hear I need to try that or I didn’t know that. Great info.  All are signs that you are coming up with original interesting content. 



Even if you start with a quote other people have heard your post underneath should be original from your point of view.


It needs to be engaging and interesting to your target market.  Don’t ever just post something because you feel you need to post.


It’s better to post less and have every post blow people away.  Then to post 2-3 times a day and each one is boring or mediocre.


Remember it’s not about you it’s about them.  What do they want to know?  What do they need?


For instance you want to mix it up. Be sure to post some personal pictures but make it interesting or funny.  This is a great time for bonding and letting people get to know you.  It’s where you go from a faceless brand to a real person and friend.



Remember in order to accomplish this you have to get a little vulnerable.  Let people see you have struggles too. 


Therefore Sprinkle those pictures in with your other posts.   You are missing the point of social media if there is nothing personal about you in your posts.


It’s a known fact that people do business with people they know like and trust.  Those types of posts check off all three!



Make People Feel Important and Special – How To Turn Your Followers Into Customers



  1. Be kind when you post and comment. Make people feel special so they want to come back.  Be the type of person people want to do business with.



The biggest secret of all is to make your audience feel like they are the stars.  They should feel special and wanted.  No matter how much success you get never make people feel like you are too busy to leave a comment or respond back.



It’s a two-way street.  You should do your best to answer all your comments and to spend a little time getting to know everyone.  Hitting the like button here or there is fine but that shouldn’t be the norm.



For instance comment on other people’s posts as well. If you only comment on certain people’s posts your missing out. That means you don’t know 75% of the people following you.



People buy from people they know and trust and like!  Bottom line.  Get out of your comfort zone take more time and get to know those other people.  You will be surprised how they are the ones that become your best clients.

If you aren’t where you want to be in your life or business one of top ways to get there is the magic of goal setting.

Once I discovered that goal setting worked it was like I found a genie in a bottle.  I became unstoppable.


I’m going to share with you how implementing these goal setting techniques surprised even me.  


Get ready… here is the magic formula! I will go over what you need to accomplish your dreams and the steps it will take to get you there.



Smart Goals – The Break Down  




Smart Goals  is An Acronym That Stands For –


  • Specific – Detailed
  • Measurable – Guidelines
  • Attainable – How
  • Realistic – Reasonable
  • Timely – When



Smart Goals  – Specific



  • The Who
  • The What
  • The Where
  • The When



The more detailed you are the better.  For example if your goal is to be wealthy that is too general.   It tells you nothing that you can grab onto.  What your mind needs to know is exactly what you want.


Here’s an example of something your mind can wrap it’s self around:


I will make one million dollars a year by expanding my consulting business in the social media industry within the next five years.


The Who = You

The What = Making One Million a Year

You How = Expanding Your Business

The When = Five Years


Now you have something you can imagine.  The more you can see yourself doing this the more likely it is to come true.




Smart Goals – Measurable

How Are You Going to Measure This Over Time?


  • Are you hitting your target on time?


  • Do you need to adjust something?


  • Is your time line realistic?


This is where you can adjust something if you’re not in line with hitting your goal.  It’s okay to go back and reevaluate your goal.  Sometimes we have an idea and not until we have put some action behind it can we see what is missing.

Pump up what’s working and adjust what isn’t working.


Some Questions You Should Ask Yourself:


  • Do I need more assistance?
  • Am I the right person for this job or business?
  • Do I have the proper resources?
  • Is my time line to tight?
  • Do I need more time?
  • Do I need more training?
  • Is my budget realistic?
  • Is this something I really want to accomplish?
  • Can I see the goal as a reality?


Make sure you check to see where you are stopping yourself if  you’re not coming close to hitting your first timeline. 


Smart Goals – Attainable/ Achieve /Action

Are you going to be able to attain this?  And how? 


What  are your action steps to achieve this goal?  You want to write out how you will make this happen.


Example of How Your List Would Look:


  1. I will hire a sales team/assistant
  2. Expand my presence on social media
  3. Start blogging on a daily/weekly basis
  4. Hire an SEO expert to get listed with the major search engines
  5. Increase my marketing by 35%
  6. Have a monthly promotion or sale to increase awareness and boost business
  7. Join a Mastermind Group
  8. Update my website
  9. Adjust prices to meet with my objectives


This just isn’t going to happen because you wrote it down.  Although that part of the process is important.  It does help to put your goals on paper.  Writing them down or typing them creates a powerful message for your brain.


It is saying I believe in this.  Seeing it in writing gives your brain the hint that you are serious.  If you just think it, that isn’t the same thing.


It even helped me when I would say my goals out loud to the people working for me.

This created excitement and accountability.  Now I have to do this because I told everyone I would.  That alone was responsible for probably 75% of my success.


If you don’t have a team then say it to your coach or mentor.  But Say it…out loud.  And Mean it!




Smart Goals – Realistic


This is one of the most important aspects.  If you are setting a goal that isn’t realistic you are setting yourself up for failure. 


You don’t want to set goals that bring you down and take the air out of your sails.  The idea here is to grow and as you do so will your confidence. 


Some Questions to Ask Yourself:


  • Is this something you’re going to be able to do?
  • Is it attainable?
  • Do you have the knowledge and resources to achieve this?



If you start with goals that are almost impossible you won’t even come close to hitting them. That defeats the purpose and you bring down the whole team.    


You wouldn’t want to say I’m going to make one million dollars my first year in business.  That could happen but it’s not realistic.


That doesn’t mean you can’t dream big.  When setting goals you want to look at them as guidelines for your business.


To me a business plan and goal setting go hand in hand.  You need both of them to build a strong solid foundation on which to grow your business.


Smart Goals – Timely

The best thing to do is break down your goals so you can measure how well you’re doing along the way.


For Example:  Your Over View


  • The first year – write out what your first year will look like and what you need to do to achieve this.
  • Six months
  • One Month
  • Today (What will you do daily?)



Remember that your daily activities are the building blocks to achieving your goal.  You want to start strong.


Often the first thing you do sets the tone for the day.  This should be something that puts you in a positive mindset.


Once you have a success mindset you are ready for the day.  This doesn’t have to take long.  A great idea is to do a quick five-ten minute visualization of what you want your day to look like.


You can do a couple of stretches or listen to upbeat music.    Read something motivating like the four agreements.  A Tony Robbins video to get you motivated and ready to conquer the world. 


Next you can start out with a couple of minutes to review your goal and make a to-do list for the day.


Start with the one thing that will push your business forward towards hitting your goal.  You have the most energy at this time.  You don’t want to waste it looking at emails or watching TV.


Once you get that momentum going you will feel so great you will be unstoppable.

Social Media Strategy – Who Are Your Followers?



  1. Get to Know Your Followers on Social Media.


First of all are you taking the time to get to know your followers? There are many ways you can do this.  You may feel you don’t have time for this.


I can understand that, we are all busy.  Yes this takes a little time.  There are no shortcuts to success.  


The good news is the benefits of doing this far outweigh the time it takes.  If you want your social media accounts to make you money, you have to take the time to nurture them.


It’s pretty much the same with any relationship in your real life.  Treat people with the respect and manners you would in real life.


What would you say to a stranger who walked up to you and said,  “I don’t know you, but I’m great at what I do. You need to buy this right now.”  I don’t think you would be hiring that person anytime soon.


Yet tons of people use that strategy on social media every day.  I’ve had people I just met asking me to read their book, join their group or watch their video.


How much sense does that make?  You have to give people a reason to want to do those things.  Just asking them won’t work.  If we did that for everyone we wouldn’t have a second to do anything else.


The whole point of social media is to be “SOCIAL.”


What that means is when you can have conversations and meaningful interactions.  This does take time.  I know what you’re thinking.  How much time it will take depends on how well you utilize your platform.


Furthermore You want to carve out some time to really get to know the people in your network.  I have said before that one way to do that is take a small group of people each day and talk with them.


You don’t have to try to start long conversations with thousands of people.  You can accomplish this by balancing this out.   Finally try talking with five to ten people a day a couple of days a week.   


Social Media Strategy –  How To Create Engagement

  1. Create Posts That Promote Conversations.


Even more you want to get to know your followers and let them get to know you.



Effective Ways To Do This That Really Work:



  • Create posts that ask questions that will promote conversation.


  • Don’t wait for your followers to come to you. Go to their posts and comment, ask questions and participate.


  • Engage with them beyond the simple like or one quick comment.



A great example is by thinking of yourself at a networking event.  When you are at a networking event you introduce yourself.  That leads to a conversation and getting to know the person you’re talking with.


The more you know your followers the better you will be able to adjust your posts. Your blogs, products and programs to meet their needs.  Keep that in mind when asking questions.



Social Media Strategy –  Be Creative



  1. Think Outside Of The Box.



Most Importantly You Want to Capture Your Audience and Keep Their Attention.


When your posting come up with tips questions and motivational sayings that are original.  You can do this by putting the idea or quote in your own words.


Since there isn’t much new under the sun.  Therefore what you want to do is put your take on it.


Examples of How To Put Your Own Take On Things:



  • What’s your way of achieving something?


  • What obstacles did you overcome?


  • What were the steps you had to take to get there?


  • What’s your opinion on a topic?


  • What’s an easier way to achieve something?



Above all this will give your posts your own voice.   People want to hear from you.  Don’t be afraid to stand out and be unique.  Your audience will appreciate  hearing a different angle or perspective.

Therefore let people see the upbeat happy part of your life.  Show the real you.  That doesn’t mean you should come off as if you have no problems.   It’s okay to let people know what you are dealing with.


What struggles you have encountered and how have you overcome them.  Because you want to let your followers know that everyday isn’t perfect.


Hence your audience will relate to you more if you show you’re human too.  That doesn’t mean you have to disclose all your personal problems


Besides that people are tired of looking at big businesses that have no face.  They don’t share their feelings.  Therefore everything is cookie cutter.  You want to go beyond that.


Most importantly letting people in to experience with you the fun exciting things you are doing, is a great way of giving that personal touch.


Stay relatable and humble and you will see quality comments and engagement.


Most noteworthy there is nothing more lonely than a large account with thousands of likes and two comments.  That means that person isn’t making comments on anyone else’s posts.


Most importantly have fun.  Make friends and business associates and your experience will be profitable and enjoyable.


Above all follow people back when you know the person is someone you want to associate with. Don’t show people it’s a one way street.


Finally Everyone wants to be followed.  Do you want people to follow you?  Of course you do. We all do. Don’t be one of those accounts where it’s all about them.

Creating a brand for your business is essential to your success.  Don’t make the mistake so many new business owners do and leave that part out all together.


You want to stand out in the sea of millions.  That is exactly what I’m going to show you how to do.

If your business seems to be missing something, branding is probably on the top of that list.


Are you wondering if your branding is working?  That is another area of concern for most small business owners.  They can’t afford a branding expert so they do it themselves. 


I’ve taken over and for the next ten minutes I will be your branding expert.  I will guide you through the most important steps.  These will put your business on blast so everyone knows who you are.




Creating A Brand – Who Are You?



  1. You Must Have a Niche.



For instance if you’re a life coach what kind of life coach are you?  The more exact the better this works. 


If  your specialty is marketing you would be a Marketing Coach.   If your expertise is health you would be a weight loss coach or nutritional coach.


Read my article on Niche Marketing.   This way you’re up to speed on how to create your niche successfully.



Creating A Brand – What’s Special About You?



  1. What Do You Do That Stands Out?



What special skills and abilities do you have?   What have you accomplished?  You want to create a picture here so people understand what you offer that no one else does. 


Start brainstorming until you come up with an outstanding list that outlines your accomplishments.   In my case I have twenty plus years of experience.  That would be something you would want to highlight. 


I have also won over 75 high achievement awards in marketing and sales.  That is something else I highlight on all my social media, website and my email signature.  


If you have ever won anything or you have any credentials, special schooling.  You may even be certified like I am.  These are all things you want to use.


You want to lead with these special qualifications.   Remember you need to get people’s attention.


You don’t have long to do that on the Internet.



Creating A Brand –  You’re Personality



  1. Every Brand Has a Personality.


Are you serious?  Is your approach more laid back?  Are you spiritual?  Do you have a positive side to you?  Are you humorous?


Decide what you want to show to the world.  If you’re a life coach and your specialty is meditation.  You would want to play up the spiritual aspect of your brand.


Be you most of all.  If you’re not authentic it will show in everything you do.  Let the most interesting part of your personality shine.  Boring never won over anyone! 



Creating A Brand – What Does The World Think of You

  1. You Want to Control How You are Represented.



It’s important to know what your clients are saying about you?


Do your research to see what others think of you.  One thing you can start with is asking your followers what they think you do?  Can they explain it?


This will tell you if you have a clear message.   Most importantly from that information you can make changes.


Once you know your niche.  And have decided what makes you stand out.   You have identified your personality.  Now it’s time put that out into the world. 


You need a tag line.  I like to take the tag line one step further.  It’s called a HUB statement: Hottest Undeniable Benefit.


This way people know what you offer who your clients are and what they will get if they work with you.


Mine is:  Partnering with entrepreneurs and professionals to create balanced lives while earning more money. 


The tag line you use on your website should also be on your social media.  The same with any logos or profile pictures.


Hence you want to be recognized across the board on all platforms.  That’s what branding is. You want to have a similar look and feel on all your social media.


If you have specific colors for your website your social media should use those same colors. 


Do a search on Google to see what if anything people are saying about your company.  If you haven’t yet created a Google Authorship you want to do that.  


This is a short bio of your background and what you offer.  It will come up in the search results when people Google you.  It’s a great idea to have that in place.  It looks professional.


Creating A Brand – Social Media



  1. Creating Original Content That is Consistent With Your Brand.    


You want to create a social media plan.  This would include the different types of posts you should put out as a brand.


Understand each social media platform has a different feel.   You want to change your voice and content based on what social media platform you’re using.   I’m not talking about changing your look and feel.  


Often what works well on Twitter won’t do well on Instagram.   Twitter is known for sharing other people’s content.   Make sure to use that benefit as well as create your own content.  Have a nice balance.


Successful Posts For Social Media:

  • Contests
  • Giveaways
  • Come up with your own marketing or success tips
  • Original Images
  • Ask questions that help you get to know your audience
  • Post pictures and videos that help your audience get to know you
  • Use a slide show to give people an idea of what you offer
  • Post personal pictures of your vacations, family moments, your animals


Take the time to design your images or take your own pictures.  Create original tips that help solve your target markets problems.


Most importantly you don’t want to sound like everyone else.  It’s difficult to come up with completely original ideas.  The best way to combat this is use your voice or your opinion when sharing a motivational quote or success tip.


Certainly you want to think about what will draw people in.  The idea is to get them actively participating with your brand. 


Finally don’t post the same thing every day.   Mix it up!  Show people what you know and who you are.



Creating A Brand – What’s Your Story

  1. You Need an About Us or About Me Page That Connects With Your Audience.


Therefore let them in so they feel they know you.  Emotion is what triggers a response from people.  Don’t be afraid to tell your story.


Explain how you or your company arrived at the place you are today.


Similarly you can communicate your struggles and how you overcame them.   Share what your mission statement is. 


Furthermore reveal pictures of your staff or your offices if you have them.   If you have a video that demonstrates what you offer, add that to the mix.   


Most importantly make this page personal as well as professional.  This way your reader feels they know who you are.  This is where the relationship building starts.


Finally you want to take it from a cold corporate feeling of,  “who cares.”   To a warm and fuzzy feeling of we have been in your position and understand you.




Creating A Brand – Your Main Communication Funnel



  1. Your Blog Should Be Your Focal Point.


Hence when you are promoting something to your followers use your blog or website as the place you want them to land.


Your blog is a great way to build trust with your audience.   You are “showing” them a preview of what they can expect to get from you.


Evenmore this gives them an incentive to sign up for your email list.  Buy your product or attend your webinar.



Creating A Brand – Building Community

  1. Put Yourself Places Where People are Meeting.  


  1. Facebook groups.  You can start one or participate in one regularly.
  2. LinkedIn has forums, groups and discussion platforms where you can answer questions and post your blogs.
  3. Quora is another place you can connect and answer questions.  You can post blogs as well as start your own group.
  4. Instagram has live stories now.  You can get people to participate on Instagram with contests and follow parties.
  5. Starting a podcast is another great way to brand yourself as expert in your field.


Above all as a brand you should be creating these contests and parties as well as participating in them.   That way people look to you as the leader in your industry. 

If  you have a weak showing on social media people will think your brand is weak.

I determined it was for teenagers basically and stopped using it for years.



I decided to give it another shot.  This time I went back and did my homework.  I tested out many different posts and used some of my successful marketing strategies. 


What I discovered was like hitting the lottery.


Instagram has its own personality.   You can’t use the same tactics you do with Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn and expect to get results.

Instagram Tips –  Building Your Following  With The Right Hash Tags



  1. It’s Important to Build a Targeted Following.


This is true on any social media platform.  On Instagram the way to do that is a little different. 


You can of course follow other people who have the same interests you do.  You can follow your competitors followers as well.


But the number one way to get followers on Instagram is through hash tags.  Not just any hash tags but the accurate hash tags.


I give you some examples of what I mean by accurate.  You’re looking for hash tags that attract the people you want to follow you.  If you’re a life coach you should try some of these hash tags:


  • #lifecoachingtips
  • #lifecoaching101
  • #onlinebusiness
  • #socialmediatips
  • #workingfromhome


Now let’s take it a bit further.  Use hash tags that describe what your posting.  Also use long tail hash tags. 



For instance if you’re posting something that tells people how to grow their business these are examples of successful hash tags:


  • #workfromhomesuccess
  • #makeyourdreamscometrue
  • #youcandoanything


These work great for motivational posts that give people tips. 


  • #howtogrowyourbusiness
  • #socialmediamarketingtips
  • #motivationalsuccesstips
  • #howtomakethingshappen
  • #bestwaytostartyourday
  • #wordsofwisdom
  • #Startingahomebasedbusiness
  • #onlinebusinessmotivation
  • #onlinebusinesstips


These hash tags are great  because you are not competing with as many people. If you just used #motivation then you would have millions of posts to compete with.


You should do some experimenting on your own.  Not all hash tags are the same.


I found that when I used #girlpower it brought in people who worked out.    When I used #travel it brought in travel agencies and world travelers.


You want to pay attention to who is responding to your hash tags.  This can save you a lot of time and energy.


Now when I post my travel pictures I decided to change it up by using:  


  • #vacation
  • #funtimes
  • #amazingphotos
  • #freetime
  • #thegoodlife
  • #ladybosslifestyle
  • #successfulentrepreneurlife


These produced a different set of people who were in my target market.



Instagram Tips – Hash Tags That Bring Results

  1. Change Your Hash Tags on Each Post


I’ve found that using the same hash tags over and over will often bring the in the same people.  You want to mix it up so it attracts a different target market. 



You can only use 30 hash tags per post.


I suggest using as many as possible up to that number.  If you use more it will completely wipe away your entire post except for the picture after you post it.  Make sure you count your hash tags before you post. 


The ones you use in your post count as the thirty minimum.  I made that mistake and believe me it wasn’t fun having to rewrite my entire post again.


Some hash tags you might want to try to get more followers and likes are, #instalike and #instagood. 


#instalike  means that you will like the persons post back.  You don’t have to follow them if they are not in your target market.  But you should at least like their post back as long as it’s not vulgar or offensive.


#instagood means the post is special.  That tends to pull in a lot of people as well.  Both of those will help you build your following much faster.



Instagram Tips – Have a Plan For Your Content



  1. Don’t Post Random Pictures Just Because.  Each Post Should Have a Purpose.



Posting once a day is more than enough on Instagram.  This way it allows you to engage more with the people commenting on your posts.


When I say have a plan I mean decide what you want to gain from the post. 


If your goal is to get people to read your latest blog on your website.  Post a picture that has to do with what your blog is about.  You can even use the main picture from your blog.


If it doesn’t have any words on it I suggest adding them.  When I did this I used the main picture I used for my blog.   It didn’t have any words so I added:


” Are you lost when it comes to selling online?”


The picture was a beautiful women in a designer gown walking alone, down the middle of the street.  She was in the desert with sand covering most of the street.



Now I have captured your attention.  I still want you to continue on and read what I wrote under my picture.


Instagram Tips – How To Get People To Read Your Posts



  1. To Accomplish This You Use The Line Right Below Your Picture.



That is what everyone will see.  That line has to make people hit the more link.  To read on.  You want something they can’t resist that pulls them in. 


Your plan here is that they read your blog post.  With that in mind you have to get them to read your Instagram  post first.   


Asking them a question in that space has worked well.  Promising them there are tips or secrets to come is another great option.


Explaining what they get if they read your post has also worked well.


Whatever you decide to use in that first line under your picture needs to grab their attention.


Instagram Tips – Getting People To Take Action

  1. You Want Them To Go To Your Website.


In order to do this make sure your post is not one long paragraph.  Break each thought up making it easy  to read.  Keep each thought interesting and short.


Give them a taste of what is to come if they read your article.  What I have done in the past is post the first paragraph of my article in small bites under my picture.


Then I tell them what to expect in my blog post once they go to my website.   I make them a promise that I do keep of what they will GET if they read it. 


In essence I am letting them sample a little and selling the rest.  This balance has worked extremely well.



Instagram Tips – Know What You Want People To Do Once They Get To Your Website



  1. In Addition to Reading Your Article You Should Have A Goal in Mind.


Mine is to get them to sign up for my success tips.  This is what they see when they first go to my website.


I hope they read the article but if they only sign up for my success tips that is a win.  I offer an incentive which is my Free mini class on “How to Become a Social Media Star With My Five Secrets.” 


You should offer them something that solves a problem for them.   This way they have incentive to sign up for your mailing list.  I talk more about how to do this in my article 8 Top Secrets How To Sell Without Selling.



Instagram Tips – Let People Get To Know You

  1. Have a Selection of Different Types of Posts.


You want people get a feel for who you are.


Let them see your knowledge in business.   Give them a glimpse of who you are personally.  Share your wins and acknowledgements. 


Post tips that help them solve their problems.  This way they can get a feel of what kind of knowledge you have.


Post questions so you can engage with your followers and get to know them.


You can ask many types of questions.  Change it up from week to week.  I asked people what’s the one thing they haven’t yet accomplished?  



This gave me ideas of what people needed from me.  You can build a product or class around those answers.


Another week I asked what everyone was grateful for.  This helps the bonding process.  You are getting to know your followers so they become friends not followers.


I also post inspirational messages that help motivate people and give them hope.  When I do this I share with them in with my post on how I got to where I am.  Sometimes I will share about overcoming an obstacle.


This helps people see that you are a person too and have problems just like they do.


I post personal pictures of my family and vacations.  When I do that I don’t post any type of sells pitch under those posts.  They are only there for relationship building.


If you post something under those personal posts people will never see you as a person.  They will only see you as someone trying to sell them.

  1. It’s Not Enough to Post Something and Simply Like Other People’s Posts.



You want to do the best you can to read their posts and respond. 


At the same time when people are responding to your posts if it’s relevant ask them questions.  Respond back to them with more than just thanks. 


It’s fine if you can’t always do that.  Have certain posts where you know you are going to make time for engagement.


We are all busy and you can’t respond back personally in a long conversation with every person on every post.


Plan out the posts you are going to do that with.   This way you get to know who your followers are.   What they like what they don’t like.


This opens the window into understanding your audience.  It also builds trust.  People do business with people they know like and trust.



Instagram Tips –  Look At Your Statics To See What is Working

  1. You Have Tools On Your Instagram Account That Tell You How Many People Visited Your Website.


It will also tell you how many people visited your profile.  What is the age demographic of your followers.  Are they male or female.


It’s important you gauge these stats.  You want to know which posts are getting people to visit your website. 


You may have a post that has hundreds of likes but if no one clicked on your website.  You don’t want to post that type of picture when you know you are trying to sell your class or product.

Effective Communication Skills Observation

  1. My Secret Weapon is Observation

The ability to tune in and sense someone’s personality.  What I mean here is sensing their energy vibration.

When you start to really pay attention you will be amazed at the important information you will pick up.  You find out what makes the other person tick.

You want to make a successful presentation.  Understanding how someone responds to high energy or low energy can make all the difference. 

If the person is nervous or uncomfortable you can see that in their body language.  Notice if they have their arms crossed.  Or if their arms are in a relaxed open position.

If the person has a closed body posture you know immediately you are not getting through to them.  This is your queue to change your approach.

This may be happening because you are trying too hard.  So let whatever point you are trying to make go.  Move on to another approach until they feel comfortable.

Keep watching them until they change their position.  Once that happens they have let their defenses down.  Now you can get through to them.  They have to be open to hear what you have to say.

Effective Communication Skills – Clarity

  1. Presenting a Clear Picture

We all look at life through our own reality.  No one person sees the world the same way. 

That’s why it’s so easy to be misunderstood.  It’s important that people understand what you are trying to tell them.

Take some time to think about what you’re going to say before you start the conversation.

Keep it simple so the other person gets a clear picture of what you’re saying.   Once you have made your point ask the other person what they heard.

This is where you will notice the difference in everyone’s realities.   What one person thinks is not what you probably think.  

By asking them what they heard you say you can clear up any misunderstandings.

A good way to do that is by using examples. This puts them in your shoes and they can see where you are coming from.

Effective Communication Skills – Asking Questions

  1. A Very Important Part of Communication is Asking Questions

You want to know what the other person likes and dislikes.  This way you will know how to speak to them so they respond positively.

That doesn’t mean you adjust what you like or dislike.  It means that you are going to communicate with them on their level.

When I am in any type of selling situation I always ask as many questions as I can.  This way I know how to present my idea or service in a way that is of value to them.

The only way to know what is of value to someone is by asking questions.  They will tell you exactly what they like and don’t like.  It is up to you to pay attention.

Effective Communication Skills – Be Open and Friendly


  1. Have an Open Mind and Be Prepared to Learn From The Person.

Communication is a two-way street.  It’s a nice balance of give and take.

By being friendly and give them the benefit of the doubt.  The more you do this the more likely they are to respond back with that same respect.


I have found that people are most comfortable with people who are like them.  If you put yourself on the same wave length you will bond with them.

People respond very well to similarities.

Have you ever heard someone say, “Oh you’re just like me.”   We are all looking for what is familiar so we can share that common bond.

When you bond with them you create an excellent starting point for developing a great relationship.

When I am with someone I allow their energy to meld with mine.   If they need a boost then my energy will help lift them up.

If I need a calming effect I allow their energy to sooth me and together this makes an ideal balance.

Effective Communication Skills – Listening

  1. The Last and Most Important Point is Listening.

Listening is also a form of flattery.   Statics show that the person who does the most talking enjoys the conversation the most.

You gain points for listening and you learn what it is you need to know. 

If this is a potential client you want to make sure you understand what they are looking for.  This way you can focus on those points.

Always listen more than you talk.  You will know what turns them off.  You will also know what they need to hear to close the deal.

Most novice sales people make the mistake of talking after they already made the sale. 

If you keep talking you will talk yourself right out of the deal.  Once someone says yes I want it.  You stop right there and sign them up.

Listening is your golden ticket to understanding your prospect and gaining their respect.

Take the time to develop your communication tools and you will see the world open up to you.

9 Awesome Tools How to Stay Focused and Achieve Your Dreams

The number one trait of all millionaires is the ability to stay focused.  If you’re lacking this ability you’re at a huge disadvantage.


I put together 9 easy to follow rules that every successful person I know uses.

Stay Focused – Dedicate Certain Hours



  1. Everyone Has Certain Times of The Day When They Function Best.


If you’re a morning person this is your time to accomplish your goals.  I happen to be a night person.  I know I do my best work in the afternoon.


I always carve out time to accomplish important tasks around my high performing hours.  This boosts my concentration and I get more accomplished.


It’s a good idea to stick to the same time every day.  Start a routine.  This way your brain gets used to doing work at certain times.  You’re productivity will increase as well.


This also increases your ability to follow through on accomplishing your goals.



Stay Focused – Choose a High Productivity Place


  1. Figure Out Where You Feel The Most Comfortable With No Distractions.



This is especially important if you have small children and your working from home.  My ex-billionaire boyfriend had a ritual that worked for him like a charm.


Every morning before work he would stay in bed with a cup of tea for a half an hour. This is where he would come up with all his brilliant ideas.  He kept his phone off and made sure he wasn’t distracted.


I was already up and getting ready to start my day.   He knew he wasn’t going to be disturbed.


He rarely ever came up with brilliant ideas at the office.  It was all done in his home sipping tea from his bed for years.


Find your happy place and that’s where you’ll do your best thinking.  There is something magical about working or strategizing  in a place you feel comfortable and serene.



Stay Focused – Meditation

  1. Meditation is My Secret Weapon.



I love to meditate.   It clears away all the noise and allows me to get into a centered mind space.  This is where all my great ideas come to me. 


You don’t have to be an expert at meditation to take advantage of this method.


Go to a quite place.  Turn off your phone, close your eyes and breath.   Just focus on your breathing.  That’s it.  You can add a mantra if you like.


For instance:   Say to yourself “breath in, breath out.”  Focus your attention on the movement of your stomach going in an out.


Do this for two or three minutes.  Longer if you have experience with meditation.   Once you have cleared your mind your ready to start your day.  


Anytime you find yourself getting distracted you can stop and do the breathing exercise.   This will bring your focus right back where you need it to be.


It also calms your nerves and centers you.  This is a great method to use if your nervous or fidgety as well.


Stay Focused – Get Plenty of Sleep


  1. Sleeping at Least 7 Hours a Night is Essential to Staying Focused.


If you want to get things accomplished, you need to stay on track by getting your sleep. 


There are some people who need less sleep than the normal seven to eight hours.  Most of us actually do need that much sleep. 


Don’t believe the myth that genius’ only sleep three hours a night.  That is very rare.  I happen to know a couple of genius’ and they all sleep seven hours or more.



Stay Focused – Avoid Multi-Tasking


  1. Do One Thing At a Time.



If you really want laser focus you will stream line your work.   Concentrate on one thing only.   It may seem like an accomplishment to multi-task but most of the time it is simply distracting.


If you are running around doing this and doing that.  At the end of the day you won’t end up accomplishing anything. 


Then you start to feel bad about yourself and your project or work isn’t complete either.


The secret here is stick to one thing.  I have to say everyone I know that is successful has that same ability.  They all keep on track.   It’s really simple.   Just stick to what you’re doing until it’s finished.


Stay Focused – Have a Check List

  1. Make a List of What You Need To Get Done Each Day.



The best way to keep yourself in the game.  Working on one thing at a time.  I live and die by my to-do list. 


If I don’t have something keeping me focused, before I know it, I’m doing mindless tasks. I’m reading my emails.   I start answering personal calls.


I end up doing everything but what I need to get done.  Most people use an app. for this.  They have easy to do lists you can use right on your phone.  That’s what I use and I love it.



Stay Focused – Take Breaks



  1. Give Yourself Scheduled Breaks During The Day.



If you keep working 24/7 with no down time it’s very easy to get off track.   This is one of the biggest problems entrepreneurs who work from home seem to have.


You have no off button.  I use to fit right into this category.  Since your office is in your home you can work all day and well into the night.


You need to schedule time for a morning  break, lunch  break,  afternoon break and dinner break.   It’s best that you don’t go back to work after dinner.  If you do, make sure you take a long break in between.


It’s a known fact that if you don’t give yourself some down time you will not stay focused.  Often when you come back from your break the answer you couldn’t think of will be there.


Stay Focused – Certain Foods Can Help


  1. Eating Breakfast Really Does Have Its Focus Advantages.



Eating too much or too little will have the opposite effect on your ability to focus.  Keep these all in moderation and watch what a big difference they make.


  • Coffee
  • Fish that is rich in mega 3 fatty acids
  • Fruit or a glass of Orange Juice
  • Nuts
  • Dark Chocolate
  • Avocados and Whole Grains
  • Blue berries
  • Vitamin B
  • Ginseng
  • Ginkgo
  • Green Tea
  • Stay Hydrated


The good news is these foods provide many other excellent health benefits.  Like fighting off cancer and living longer to name a few.


I live on green tea.   I can tell you that gives me laser focus and I feel much younger than I actually am.  I have to give credit to all the green tea I drink all day long.



Stay Focused – Exercise Mentally and Physically


  1. Working Out is Always a Great Way to Stay Alert.


Exercise is a big benefit in many ways.  If you’re in shape and strong you tend to stay focused and keep your train of thought easier.


You may be thinking you can leave this step out.  Really I saved the best step for last. 


There are many excellent ways you can exercise your brain.  This will train your brain to learn to stay focused. 


One thing you can do is practice memorizing things.  This will keep your mind sharp.  Play the game concentration for instance.


Practice listening to other people.  Really pay attention when people are talking. Afterward see how much you retained.


Doing things like this will strengthen your memory as well.  It will also keep your brain young and alert.


I highly suggest using all nine of these tools to staying focused.  If you start today you will notice a huge difference in no time.


I use them all and I have laser focus.  When I start straying away from some these actions it takes a toll on my work and ability to concentrate.

7 Breakthrough Tips For Overcoming Procrastination To Boost Your Business

Do you feel stuck?  No Energy?  I know it’s not easy overcoming procrastination when you’ve lost your mojo. 


Although that is a problem you can’t afford to have when you’re in business for yourself.


I get it!   Even though I have a type A personality and getting things done is not my usually my issue.


I did go through a period in my life when I was stuck and procrastinating.   I understand how difficult that can be.  It affects every area of your life.


I had to do something to turn that awful feeling around.  What I did was use these simple effective tips for overcoming procrastination.   These will get you back on track and winning in no time.

Overcoming Procrastination – Accountability is Key


  1. Find Someone You Can Be Accountable To On a Daily/Weekly Basis.


The best thing I ever did was get my own life coach to get me back on track.  You can use a friend or colleague that needs the same support.


Another great way is to join a support group or a mastermind group.  I have been facilitating  my popular Success Mastermind Group for over twelve years.  


Getting into a group like this will give you tons of motivation and the accountability you need when you’re in business for yourself.  



Overcoming Procrastination –  Make a To-Do List



  1. Make A To Do List Every Day.


This is pretty easy as long as you follow it.  Make sure you put this somewhere you can easily see it.  You can use an app. for this as well.  They have plenty you can choose from.



I made my list on my phone and set an alarm everyday that reminded me to look at it.  I would check off each item as I went.  I started out with only five items.



This allowed me to feel good about myself every time I completed one of them.  Start with little things that you know you will do.  This way you will build momentum. 



Overcoming Procrastination –  How to Start Your Day

  1. You Want To Start Your Day Doing Something You Love.


What I found that caused my procrastination, I was doing too many tasks and not enough of the things I loved doing. 


If you know you’re going to start your day doing something you love you are more likely to do it.  This doesn’t matter what it is just pick something you love.  Even if it isn’t business related.  Just to get you moving.



Once you have done that you feel so good that you start to get motivated to do the next thing.  Before you know it you’re on a roll.   



Overcoming Procrastination – Remember Why You Started



  1. Reminding Yourself Why You Started Your Project / Business.



This is important to getting you excited and motivated again.  Take yourself back to the beginning of what motivated you start your business.


I’m sure you had dreams of what your life would be like.  You felt free and unencumbered by a boss.  You can now do whatever you want to do. 


We all have our reasons why we start a business or project.  Write that vision down on a sticky.   Put it your computer so you can see that every day. 


Start your day looking at why you are passionate about what you choose to do in this life.   If you don’t have a purpose that could be what’s causing your procrastination.

Overcoming Procrastination –  Keep it Simple


  1. Don’t Overwhelm Yourself With Too Many Projects.


If we start to do too many things that often causes the procrastination.  When you put too much on your plate it can get so stressful you don’t want to do anything.


Learn to say no.  This is a big one.  I had to learn to do that and it changed my life.  You want to choose the projects and tasks that make sense while moving your business forward.


Don’t worry about turning down a great opportunity.   If you’re at that point where you’re doing nothing because you’re on over load, it’s time to start cutting back. 



Overcoming Procrastination – Watch What You Say To Yourself

  1. Positive Affirmations Work Great For Overcoming Procrastination.


I realized at one point why I wasn’t motivated to do anything.  I was beating myself up for procrastinating.  Which is only making it worse.  You want to do the exact opposite.


Affirmations That Worked For Me:


  • I am strong
  • I am confident
  • I am successful
  • I can accomplish anything I set my mind to
  • I love my life
  • I am a winner
  • I complete my goals successfully
  • I love yoga
  • I am happy
  • I am healthy
  • I have tons of energy
  • Everything I touch turns to gold



You can add  your own affirmations here.  Whatever is missing in your life.  Turn it into a positive affirmation.  Make sure you use them in the present tense.  


For example don’t say I am going to be happy.  Instead say,  “I am happy.”  If you say you’re going to be than your mind hears it hasn’t happened yet.  The idea is to reprogram your mind that it is happening now.


Make sure you say these affirmations at least once a day.  A great time is in the morning before you start your day.  



Overcoming Procrastination –  Get Your Body Moving


  1. Simple Exercises Can Make a Huge Difference.


One  thing I noticed is when I started doing yoga again my energy picked up.  When we are tired and out of shape it’s difficult to get motivated.


You can even start out by taking a simple walk every morning.   Any type of exercise will make a difference.  Play with your dog.  Do a couple of sit ups.


This doesn’t have to be strenuous.  Start with something simple that you enjoy.  It will change your brain chemistry by releasing positive endorphins.


One of the reasons you’re lacking motivation is because you don’t feel great.  The idea here is to change that.


By doing something physical it makes you feel better about yourself.  It gives you energy and that creates action!


You can choose to start with one of these steps or do all seven of them.  I promise you if you take my suggestions you will be back in business and winning in no time.

Are you having problems getting people to read  your articles?   I have some revolutionary writing tips that everyone doesn’t know. 


Imagine that your article gets thousands of clicks each time you post it.   Here are some sure-fire tips that will do just that.


Take notes you won’t want to miss one tip!  I offer secrets here I guarantee you won’t find in every article.

Writing Tips – Be You  Have a Fun Upbeat Voice



  1. It’s Very Important You Find Your Authentic Voice.



Talk to your readers like they’re your friends.  Let your personality shine.  This is your opportunity to make your reader feel like they’ve known you for years. 



It is a known fact that you should write at an 8th grade level.  This makes your article easy to read.  You don’t want people having to Google what a something means every couple of words.



I always go back and edit, edit, edit.  Read it over at least four times just to make sure it’s awesome.  Once your finished read it out loud if it still sounds good, publish!   



 Writing Tips – Break it Up For Easy Scanning



  1. Make It Easy To Scan.



You should never have long paragraphs.  Keep it to three sentences at the most.  You want lots of white space.  Otherwise people take one look and click right to the next website.


Make sure you break up each section with a heading.  It allows people to skip to the part they are interested in. 


Another great thing about headings.  They are a great way to get your key word in without having to use it un-naturally in your article.   A little trick I learned awhile ago.


You need to use your key word at least eight or nine times depending on the length of the article.  Rule of thumb is once every 200-300 words.


This gets it into the article enough times for the search engines, while not sounding like you’re a robot.


Writing Tips –  Always Have a Killer Headline

  1. Your Headline Will Make or Break You.



If your headline doesn’t draw people in no one will ever read your article. There are a couple of ways you can come up with great headlines.   The rules I follow are:



  1. You want people to know what they are getting.
  2. How it will benefit them.
  3. It needs to sound urgent. You want to create the need for them to read this now.




What I have found is” how to” articles are the most popular and if you tell them how many tips or secrets that’s even better. 


If writing headlines is not your thing.  Don’t worry I have the perfect solution.  You can test your headline by going to Coshedule.Com  


This is an excellent website for testing your headlines.   They score your headline that lets you know if you have a winner or not.


If that’s not enough they give they give you a detailed breakdown of why you got the score and what is great and what you can improve on.


They also offer suggestions and details on how to write successful headlines.   You can’t beat that.



Writing Tips – Your First Sentence is Where The Money Lies  


  1. Make Sure Your Opening Paragraph and Especially The First Sentence Grabs Your Reader immediately.


If you don’t make your first sentence appealing just like the headline, people will click right off your website.  


What you want to do is recap in that first paragraph what they are going to get.


People have very little time these days so they want to know you are going to deliver on your headline promise.




Writing Tips –  How To Keep Them Reading



  1. Use Words That Entice Them to Read Your Entire Article.


Let your readers know what they can expect down the line if they keep reading.  Make them a promise they can’t refuse.  Just make sure you keep that promise.


A great example would be:   “Make sure you read every tip.   I reveal more secrets on how to write a winning article.  You won’t want to miss one profitable tip.”



Writing Tips –  Use Powerful Graphics

  1. You Want to Use Dynamic Pictures to Invoke a Positive Feeling From Your Readers.


The main picture you choose is the most important.  You want something that draws people in.  Makes them want to click on your article.


Pictures are another great way to break up the dialogue.  It’s a good idea to have a picture every 400-500 words.


Using charts to prove your point is another great way to get a graphic in your article that adds to your readers  experience.



Writing Tips –  Keywords Are a Must



  1. I Always Say Write an Article With a Plan.



In order to get results from your article you have to write about something people are interested in.   Do a keyword search.


The trick to this is finding a keyword that people are searching for.   Just not one that is so popular you will never get listed for it on the search engines.


I use Google Key Word Search but there are many other ones you can use that go even further.  One I recommend is Semrush.com


They give you a trail period for free.  It’s worth checking out for sure.  They give you a percentage of how easy or difficult it is to get found for a key word.


Along with keywords your competitors are using successfully.



  Writing Tips –  Words That Make People Take Action



  1. Knowing Which Words Get People to Respond is a Key Element To Success.


The type of words you use make all the difference.  You want to use words that evoke emotion and make people take action.


One word that works well is imagine.  You would say imagine that you can make all your dreams come true etc.  This gets people hooked because now they are imagining their success. 


Asking people questions is another great way to get your readers involved and engaged in your material.


You want to  let them know you understand their problems and you have the solution. 


It’s a good idea to have a list of emotional and powerful words that affect the way people feel.  This way they are excited and keep reading.

Writing Tips – Always Have A Call To Action


  1.  Think About What You Want to Achieve Before You Write Your Article


You May Want Them to Buy a Product or Service.  The best way to achieve this is to get them on your mailing list.  You can do this in a number of ways.


  1. It can pop up when people get to your site.
  2. Offer something free in the article and they automatically go on your list.
  3. Have it as your call to action at the end of your article.
  4. Put it on the right side of your website.


I use a couple of those options.  I have a pop up half way through the page.  This way you get a chance to see if you want to opt-in to my success tips.   As opposed to it popping up right away.


I have it on the right side of my website.  I also at times have it as my end of the article call to action.


My main objective is to let you see who I am.  while showing you my successful knowledge and experience.  Once you opt-in to my success tips  that will give you the incentive down the line to work with me.


It’s always a great idea to offer something of value to incentivize people to opt-in.  I give away a free mini-class on my top five tips for how to get business with social media and become an influencer.


Be sure that you only use one call to action at a time.  If you have one at the end great, don’t have another one right below it.  If people have too many options they get confused and chose nothing.


The biggest mistake you can make is to have no call to action.  People have come to your website and enjoyed your article.


Make sure you offer them something else at the end.  That is what I mean by having a plan for each article you write.   




Writing Tips – How To Get People To link to You

  1. Getting Links Is One Way Google Knows Your Site is Worth Listing On The First Page.


There are a number of ways to get back links.  Since this is an article about writing tips.   I’m going to tell you how to do this by writing a block buster article.   


You want to make your article so juicy and so chock full of tremendous value.  This way people will want to share it.  They will want to link to it.  They will want to bookmark it.


All of this shows Google it’s worthy.  This helps you to get your article read as well.


Remember don’t hold back when writing your blog post.  That doesn’t mean you give away everything you know.    Make sure it’s long enough people have to bookmark it just to come back to it as a reference.


If you share profitable information that pays off.   People will be sure to share it with their audience because it makes them look good. 


Writing Tips –  Make it Easy To Share Your Article



  1. Sharing is Essential to Your Success.



Make sure you  use the different sharing icons on your blog posts.


You should have a Twitter icon, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumbler, Reddit, Google+ and LinkedIn.


If you have other accounts where you can share articles add those as well.  You never know what accounts your readers will have.  Give them options. 




Writing Tips – Don’t forget to Promote Your Blog Post


  1.  Get it Out Into The World For Everyone to See.


Now that you’ve done all this great work it’s time to spread the love.   Here are some of the best places to promote your blog posts.


  1. Google+ may not be your go to social network but you still want to use it.

This is where Google notices your articles.  You do want to have your blogs automatically post to at least three different sites.

  1. I have mine going to Twitter, My Facebook Page and Google+ automatically when the blog is published.

3. Then post it to Pinterest in the correct category it falls under.

4. LinkedIn.   There you have options to also post to a group.

5. Share it on sites that let other people share your articles like Tribber.

6. Put it in your newsletter with a link so people can click over and read it.

7. Digg is another website that has been around for a while.

8.  BizSugar that is a smaller site but you can get some traffic if you are consistent.

9.  Tumbler is a good one if you have great photos that go with your blog post.

10. Share on Instagram that you have a new blog post.

You do that by posting a picture that works best with your new article.  Under your picture you give a couple of tips from your article.


Then let them know they can find the rest on your website by giving them the name of your post.

Relax … and trust in you and what your selling.   You don’t need all that.  It’s too much.

No one cares about all the things you’re going to do.   They want to know what they GET. 


You want to share this with them in a friendly way.  Not a pushy sells way.  Instead of saying buy this.  Let them know how it’s going to change their life.  


How it’s going to give them more time, help them earn more money. 


Instead of saying this will earn you more money.  Show them how it will earn them more money.

  1. Writing Articles “Show” People What You Have To Offer. 


If you don’t blog you should start one.  This is the best way by far to really let people in on what you know without selling them.   


I’m using make more money as an example it can be anything.  The point is your showing them through your blog, not telling them.


Make sure your article does just that, shows them how to make more money for example.  You don’t give away the whole ball of wax.    Give them the first couple of tips. Make sure the tips really work.


This way they can try it out and see you really do know what you’re talking about. 


If they read an entire blog post and still aren’t interested in what you offer that’s normal.


Give them the option to join your email list or set up a free consultation where you can find out if you’re a good match for one another. 


People usually need between seven to nine positive experiences with you before they feel comfortable enough to buy.  If they go to your website and read only one article that probably won’t do it.


If you get their email address you have an opportunity to continue growing the relationship.   Just make sure that is what you’re going to do.


If you send them emails that only sell your product/service they will unsubscribe before you can blink.

  1. Share What You Know On Social Media Get Them Interested So They Visit Your Website 


I’ve seen this done many different ways.  I have come up with a formula that works perfect for me and my clients. 


  1. Show what you know.
  2. Build trust by sharing who you are and your experience.
  3. Give them enough information to peek their curiosity so they want more.
  4. Change it up. Give a good mixture of personal, success tips, inspirational and travel.
  5. Don’t give everything away that you know about that subject.


Give them a reason to go to your website so they can finish the article.


Don’t sell them on your social media post.  The idea is to get them to go to your website not scare them away.

5. Make Your Social Media and Your Website Very Friendly and Informative


You don’t want people to feel that the only reason your on social media is to sell them.


How do you do that?   Have fun, offer great content and don’t push your product/service. Let it sell its self.

6. Socialize on Social Media


Too many people are forgetting to meet people and network on social media.  Don’t post a picture of you with your family and then turn around and sell your product or service below that.


You want to have the posts that are only about your family.   Posts that are only about your vacation.


Nothing else!


That’s how you get people’s defenses down.  If you are always selling people will never start buying.   You want to mix it up.  Then another post is a tip of some kind so they see you do know what you’re talking about. 


Get them interested about what you do and who you are.  Let your work speak for itself when you post it.


It takes time for people to feel they know you. If you don’t allow that time you’re out there playing a numbers game.


Which means you have to hit thousands of people a day just to get one yes.  Instead of twenty people a day and eventually you will get the yes.  If you have targeted followers.

7. Don’t Hit People Up The First Time They Start Following You


Your goal might be for them to join your Facebook group or buy your product/service.   That is a secondary goal once they get to know you.  Don’t expect that the minute they read your first social media post. 


Always remember if your selling people will sense that and get their defenses up.

8. Wait Before You DM Someone Until You Have Built a Relationship With Them 


If you don’t know someone it’s hard to believe they want to work with you.   Or have you join their group etc.


If you’re using social media correctly you won’t have to use that hard sales approach.  Which comes off a bit desperate I might add.

How To Discover Your Life Purpose And Turn It Into A Thriving Business

So many people want to know, “How do I find my life Purpose?” Once I find it, then what?”


These are questions I encounter on a regular basis.  I remember when I didn’t have one. Mine was actually lost, I was searching…

Before I go on, I want to define what that it means to me.   I believe it is your reason for living.


It is what makes you get up in the morning.  It’s what you love to do and what you naturally do the best.


It is something that lights you up inside and everyone who comes in contact with you can feel that light.


Have you ever been around someone whose energy is so bright you are instantly attracted to that person? They are living their purpose.


I believe we all have a life purpose. Whether we are living it or not is another thing. It’s very much like your life passion.

Life Purpose Make A List Of The Things That Come Naturally to You



This list is different from the first because it’s what comes easily for you.  The first is what you love.  Sometimes you will find some are the same.

I looked at the different things that came easily to me.  Then the things that gave me pleasure.  It seemed inevitable that my life purpose had something to do with people and helping them.


Then I started to examine the different ways I could go about helping people.


I looked at the writing aspect. I looked at teaching. Maybe a yoga or meditation instructor?


I looked at how I love to help people thrive.


I am great at business, sales and closing.



Life Purpose Narrowing It Down



  1.  Take Your Two Lists And Find The Commonalities

Life Purpose Trying It On For Size

  1.  Imagined Yourself As Some of The Things You Listed


What would that actually feel like?


Is that something that fits into your life?


Does this help people?


I did this with each item in the list.  I took the time to try these different ideas on for size and see how they fit.  This can be done in many different ways.  Visualization is an option.


Another way can be to try out the different classes in your area and get a feel for what it would be like.   Think about if “you” were instructing that class.


Can you see yourself doing it?  Does it feel right to you?  After trying on the different ideas in my list in the conventional way, something still didn’t feel quite right.  I had to take a couple more steps to put it altogether.



Life Purpose Thinking Outside The Box



I started out thinking about doing something with yoga.  Maybe a yoga instructor. I really love all the benefits that I get from yoga and meditation.


I love to share with people and to write. I considered starting a yoga blog or writing books on yoga.


Then I had another thought I could write about all the different and amazing techniques I have experienced in meditation.  That was something I loved doing. 


I thought about the different angles that I could write about. My favorite meditation techniques.  Meditation for beginners. The possibilities became endless.


Now my creative juices were flowing.   I was getting really energized about this.


I realized that writing about the things I love was really feeling incredible to me.  I knew that was a big part of my life purpose.


I started to feel like I just won the lottery!  Once I opened my mind to other ways of sharing with people, other than becoming an actual yoga or meditation instructor.   I knew I was making progress.  The gates were opening!


I let these ideas sit with me as I took the next step. I did some investigating on a number of different things on my list. 


I added Motivational speaker, marketing, small business blogger.

  1. I searched the Internet: 


  • How to become a yoga instructor
  • Helping people
  • Motivating people
  • Becoming a motivational speaker
  • Becoming a therapist
  • Teaching meditation
  • How to become a blogger



Next I did a different type of search, one that would tell me who was already doing these things.


How much did they charge?  What were they offering? Was this a viable business? How much money could I make?


I thoroughly investigated their websites and spoke to people who did these types of things.


This way I could really get a feel for what being a motivational speaker or business consultant was like.




Life Purpose Putting It Out There



  1. Ask Your Friends What Are Your Strengths?


I started with my sister, who knows me well and will give it to me straight while being supportive.   That is very important when you’re searching for your life purpose.


Between my sister, Leah and a few other close friends I started to get other ideas.


They may see something you don’t.  Tell them to be honest, you’re not looking for compliments here.


That was very helpful.  The main theme I heard over and over was how gifted I am at helping people with their life, career and business situations.


They said, I have wonderful ideas and I am very inspiring and up lifting.   I’ve had a lot of life experiences was another reoccurring theme.  That would be the understatement of the century.


They pointed out that I was extremely successful in the corporate world.  Making a quarter of a million a year as a Regional Manager in the Personnel Industry. 


Winning over seventy-five high achievement awards for sales, opening and growing new offices.


The company I worked  before that was very much the same.  Breaking records and creating a division for that company that didn’t exist that increased their business by 150% the first three months.


This whole time I left my mind open and listened. Remember I am just investigating now, not making any decisions yet.


I was done with the corporate world by then so I knew my purpose in life was not to go back in that direction.  Although I did add marketing consultant, business blogger and a few others to my list.



Life Purpose Writing It Out

7.  Write What You Want Your Business To Look Like


I kept all the progress I made up until this point and included that into the writing step.


Something magical happened when I started to write this out.  It felt real to me. I could actually see it coming to life.


I noticed that when I was writing I became more detail oriented.  Everything started to come together.  I started to see my life purpose unfold.


What ended up on that piece of paper is exactly what I’m now doing in my life.


I simply let the writing take me down the path where I wanted to be. I didn’t stop for one moment in and say, “Dawn you can’t do this because you won’t make enough money.”   Or “Dawn, isn’t there quicker way of getting to your life purpose?”


Instead I wrote what I really wanted in life.  Funny enough that is my life purpose.


Life Purpose Example Of The Writing



  1. What is the most important thing(s) I have to offer?

I have learned to find ways to navigate easily and effortlessly in this world.  My enthusiasm and excitement for life! My ability to create something successful from the beginning.  Business and sales experience. I have won over seventy-five awards in those areas. 



2. How do I want to do this?


I want to work from my home office. I want to write while looking at the ocean in a bright sunny environment.


Setting my own hours. ( This is very important to me allowing time for yoga, meditation and my private life.) Balance



 Interacting with clients on a phone a session or holding classes over the internet such as a webinar.  Possibly doing some marketing consulting for large and small companies.


(This is a portion of my rough draft, what I wanted my life to look like. At the time I didn’t know what a life coach did. But I knew what I wanted to be doing.

I knew what came naturally to me.  I knew what my Life Purpose was. Who knew there was a word for it? .. LIFE COACH)


This was in 2006 and people didn’t know what a Life Coach was at that time. It was still very new.  I eventually found my niche in Life Coaching and became a Certified Marketing Coach.


My life purpose is to be of service to all others through self-awareness, inspiration and motivation.


I knew that I wanted my life purpose to transcend into my career and throughout my entire life.


This is something that is very important to me. To live my purpose in everything I do.  While making money.

  1.  Getting Into Action


My first Action Step was to tell my group of friends or support group as I like to call them.  What I had discovered.


Three of them said it sounds like you are talking about a life coach.  I said “Noooo!”  I really didn’t understand what a life coach did at that time.


Second Action Step was to investigate life coaching.  Once I did this thoroughly, taking it a step further.   I talked to a few people who were life coaches and investigated life coaching schools.


I found out that life coaching was exactly what they had been describing.  It was what seemed to come up in my lists and writing as well.  That was a fantastic feeling.


The funny part was, I was already doing this, only I wasn’t getting paid for it.


Life Purpose Overcoming The Obstacles



I did have one problem that kept bothering me.  I am talking about my Life Purpose. Should I be charging for that?


I always felt that what came naturally to me was freely given as a gift and therefore I would also give it away as a gift.

Life Purpose Making It Happen



I found an accredited life coaching school.  It was approved by International Coaching Federation.  I was certified by CTA in 2007 after a year of training.


You don’t have to have a certification to be a life coach but it sure helps.  Especially if you are new and haven’t built up a reputation. 


I recommend that whatever you choose as your life purpose career that you don’t take the short cuts.  If you do it will end taking you three times as long.  If they have a school or training by all means take it.


It will give you a huge advantage.  The school I went to trained you on how to be a  life coach.    They also prepared you for going into business on your own.

Social Networking Tips  Getting Started


  1. Decide where you want to spend your time. 


Is it Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest.  Pick two that work for you and start out concentrating on those two.


This way you can build a strong following where people get to know you.


If your spread out to thin it’s a waste of time.  You won’t get the results you’re looking for.


  1. Make sure your followers are people who are interested in what you offer.


You want targeted followers.  The best way to find those is do a search.


If you don’t know who your target audience is.  Look at your competitors followers.  I mean the top people in your field.


See who they are following.  That will give you a good idea who is interested in what you offer.



Social Networking Tips Going The Extra Mile


  1. Go the extra mile. 


Make sure you take the time to go to your followers profile.  See who they are and look at their posts visit their website.


It’s great to like their posts but if you can go the extra mile.   You’ll see results like people opt-in to your newsletter.  Getting clients.  People buying your products.


If that interests you then going the extra mile will pay off big time!


What I mean by that is, if it’s Instagram or facebook comment on people’s posts in a way that starts a conversation.


You want to get to know your followers the same way you would get to know people at a party or a networking function.


Social Networking Tips  Twitter is Better Then You Think


  1. Twitter is a place you want to be if you’re not already on there. 


It’s a great place if you write articles to get your blog posts read and shared.


The goal is to get people to retweet your posts.  Liking and commenting on Twitter is not as beneficial.  You want to let people know that you want retweets.


This will give you four, five even ten times the reach you would have on your own.  


To get retweets make sure you have written an article people want to share.  Then Retweet their blog posts. 


Most likely they will return the favor. If you’re someone with a nice size following people should want you to retweet them.

  1. Make sure you thank your followers for the retweet when you get one and retweet them back.


That is not only polite but it tells your other followers that you will retweet them if they retweet you.



Make sure you retweet posts that your followers will benefit from.  Don’t retweet anything.  Look at what you are sharing.



If you share valuable information this will make you even more popular.  People start to look to your feed for the top news or great informational posts.



You can’t possibly come up with enough posts on your own so sharing others people’s posts is a perfect way to be thought of as an expert and influncer in your field.



This will also get you more followers because you are tweeting great posts.  Liking someone’s post does nothing to further you or the other person on Twitter.



Twitters algorithm doesn’t work the same way facebook or Instagrams does.  A like on Twitter is not going to put your post at the top of the feed.


So start retweeting people!


Social Networking Tips  Building Relationships That Turn Into Clients



  1. Spend every day choosing at least ten to fifteen new people who you are going to get to know.


Start to develop that relationship.  Spend a bit more time on their page liking commenting and conversing with them.


Use their name in your comments and have fun.  Act like you’re at a social event.  Be charming let people know who you are and ask them questions.


This is how you would get to know people outside of social media.  People are people it works the same way online.


Be consistent and keep liking sharing and retweeting your new friends often.  Don’t drop them or they will drop you.


  1. If you’re on Instagram or facebook post things that create conversation. 


You don’t want to post the same kinds of post every day.


Change it up.  Give them some personal pictures that show what you like doing and who you are.


Share pictures of your family your dog anything that makes you a person and takes you out of that I’m a cold company that doesn’t care about you.

Social Networking Tips How To Create Engagement That Converts To Sales


  1. Share posts that create engagement. 


One good way to do this on Instagram and Facebook is by asking a question.


I found that if you put the question on the post it works better than putting it in the written portion below.  This way people can’t miss it.


Ask questions that relate to your business.  This way you know what they need and what is missing in their business.  From there you can create a webinar a Mp3 an eBook to solve those problems.



  1. When people comment on your posts go back to their posts and do the same thing. 


This shows them you care and you are a team player. It’s not all about you.


Some people suffer from I’m too popular for that.  You may be too busy for that.  So do it when you can but do it.  If you stay relatable people will want to work with you.


People buy from people they trust and like.


Social Networking Tips Show Your Personality = Clients


  1. Most important that people forget is have fun. 


Let your fun personality show on social media.  People get too used to just hitting like and moving on.  Or saying one word.


That’s okay because most people have too many followers to have a long conversation on everyone’s post.


What I do is say a little more than one word and make it personal to their posts when I can.


Later at night when everything has slowed down I go on social media.  Then I have longer conversations and spend more time with each person.


This is what takes me out of the follower zone and into the friend zone.  That is where you want to be.


If you follow these social networking tips you will see a huge improvement in your followers and opt-ins.  Your sales and your reach.


I can get my reach on Twitter into the millions.  Granted I have over 100,000. followers but when my reach hits the millions that means people are retweeting me.


Don’t ever discount the value of that.  I can see my click rates on those shares and they are in the hundreds sometimes more for one post.
