There is a reason people aren’t responding to your social media posts. I may not be a genie but my techniques works like magic.

When I first started my business I knew that I had to stand out from the crowd. I couldn’t just throw facts in a blog post and hope people would rush to sign up for my programs.

 

I’m going to share with you my secrets that changed my business.  If you follow these tips you too will get customers from your social media accounts.

1. Most people don’t realize they have to engage their readers.  It’s not enough to simply blurt out facts.  Anyone can do this.  You want to take this process deeper and give it meaning.

 

 

You want to offer content that your audience is craving.  In order to do this you need to know who your readers are.  What keeps them up at night? What are they missing in their business?

 

 

Once you know that you can create content that provides solutions to their problems.  Now this is where most people get off track.  Frankly they get boring.  They start telling you the same thing everyone else is saying.

  1. Don’t SELL! You want to use stories and examples to get your point across.  This creates heartfelt material that people can relate to. Share your testimonials, your awards and accomplishments.

 

Find creative ways to show people you are successful.  Much better than telling them.  Anyone can do that but can they prove it? 

 

When you start your blog or promotion have a goal in mind. That means that you know by the end of the piece what you want the person to do.  This can be buying your product, signing up for your webinar or e-mail list etc.

 

 

Once you start writing forget about the goal.  Just start talking.  Pretend you are talking to your friend.  Think about this for a second.

 

 

Do you throw out facts when you talk to your friends?  No.  You share with them your experience and if they have a problem how to solve it.  You certainly don’t push them or sell them with arrows or big signs.

 

 

These things won’t work in 2019!  What does work is an easier softer approach.  Called helping them by sharing your knowledge. You should be doing this with your blog as well.

 

(If you don’t have a blog you need to get one ASAP! This is where you need to be driving all your traffic from social media to.)

 

You tell them a little about what happened to you,  the obstacles you encountered and how you resolved that situation.

  1. Don’t over share. There is no reason for you to pour your guts out for all to see.  You want to remember to keep it on a friendly but professional scale.

 

 

I see people over share to the point of turning off their readers.  Remember your ultimate goal is that you get this person to hire you or buy something from you.  

 

 

There is a fine line on how to accomplish this. You share so people can relate and get to know you.  This is a great way to bond with your readers and turn them into friends.

 

 

For instance what you don’t do is bring up things that would make you think twice before you hire that person.

 

 

Ask yourself before you get too personal.  If someone shared this information with me would I feel comfortable investing my money and time with them?

 

 

It’s important I point out here that you can’t create authentic engaging content if you don’t have any direct experience with it.

  1. Write about what you know. This way you can share your own unique experience.

 

 

The idea here is for them to see you as the go to person in your field. It’s also imperative you build trust. And they should love you. So how can you do this?

 

To clarify by providing original, creative content.  Content that is relevant to your readers needs. You can make it fun and easy by using great photos.  Using your own funny authentic voice.  And finally giving important facts that they don’t hear every day.

 

One thing I do is ask my audience thought-provoking questions. I get to know their likes dislikes and discover where they are in their business.  As well as what is stopping them from succeeding.

 

 

How To Ask Questions That Give You Insight Into Your Followers Needs

  1. Ask Questions! I asked a question on Instagram awhile ago. It was about what would you do if you won the lottery. What I found out from that post was invaluable.

 

First of all  I discovered that not one person said they wouldn’t change a thing.  Above all that tells me that everyone who answered that which was about 40-50 people are not where they want to be in their life.

 

They are all missing something.  I’m sure that goes for most people by the way.

 

Many of them said they would do things that they could easily do even if they didn’t win the lottery. Which tells me most people feel they have to be financially secure in order to live their dream life.  Not true!  Yet they believe this.

 

This gave me a wealth of information to use for upcoming posts products and class’s.

 

 

Be Original How To Show People You Are A Leader In Your Industry

  1. Don’t copy people. You will never be considered a leader if you are repeating what everyone else is already talking about.

 

You can gage how well you’re doing on that front by your comments.  You want to hear I need to try that or I didn’t know that. Great info.  All are signs that you are coming up with original interesting content. 

 

 

Even if you start with a quote other people have heard your post underneath should be original from your point of view.

 

It needs to be engaging and interesting to your target market.  Don’t ever just post something because you feel you need to post.

 

It’s better to post less and have every post blow people away.  Then to post 2-3 times a day and each one is boring or mediocre.

 

Remember it’s not about you it’s about them.  What do they want to know?  What do they need?

 

For instance you want to mix it up. Be sure to post some personal pictures but make it interesting or funny.  This is a great time for bonding and letting people get to know you.  It’s where you go from a faceless brand to a real person and friend.

 

 

Remember in order to accomplish this you have to get a little vulnerable.  Let people see you have struggles too. 

 

Therefore Sprinkle those pictures in with your other posts.   You are missing the point of social media if there is nothing personal about you in your posts.

 

It’s a known fact that people do business with people they know like and trust.  Those types of posts check off all three!

  1. Be kind when you post and comment. Make people feel special so they want to come back.  Be the type of person people want to do business with.

 

 

The biggest secret of all is to make your audience feel like they are the stars.  They should feel special and wanted.  No matter how much success you get never make people feel like you are too busy to leave a comment or respond back.

 

 

It’s a two-way street.  You should do your best to answer all your comments and to spend a little time getting to know everyone.  Hitting the like button here or there is fine but that shouldn’t be the norm.

 

 

For instance comment on other people’s posts as well. If you only comment on certain people’s posts your missing out. That means you don’t know 75% of the people following you.

 

 

People buy from people they know and trust and like!  Bottom line.  Get out of your comfort zone take more time and get to know those other people.  You will be surprised how they are the ones that become your best clients.

If you aren’t where you want to be in your life or business one of top ways to get there is the magic of goal setting.

Once I discovered that goal setting worked it was like I found a genie in a bottle.  I became unstoppable.

 

I’m going to share with you how implementing these goal setting techniques surprised even me.  

 

Get ready… here is the magic formula! I will go over what you need to accomplish your dreams and the steps it will take to get you there.

 

 

Smart Goals – The Break Down  

 

 

 

Smart Goals  is An Acronym That Stands For –

 

  • Specific – Detailed
  • Measurable – Guidelines
  • Attainable – How
  • Realistic – Reasonable
  • Timely – When

 

 

Smart Goals  – Specific

 

 

  • The Who
  • The What
  • The Where
  • The When

 

 

The more detailed you are the better.  For example if your goal is to be wealthy that is too general.   It tells you nothing that you can grab onto.  What your mind needs to know is exactly what you want.

 

Here’s an example of something your mind can wrap it’s self around:

 

I will make one million dollars a year by expanding my consulting business in the social media industry within the next five years.

 

The Who = You

The What = Making One Million a Year

You How = Expanding Your Business

The When = Five Years

 

Now you have something you can imagine.  The more you can see yourself doing this the more likely it is to come true.

 

 

 

Smart Goals – Measurable

How Are You Going to Measure This Over Time?

 

  • Are you hitting your target on time?

 

  • Do you need to adjust something?

 

  • Is your time line realistic?

 

This is where you can adjust something if you’re not in line with hitting your goal.  It’s okay to go back and reevaluate your goal.  Sometimes we have an idea and not until we have put some action behind it can we see what is missing.

Pump up what’s working and adjust what isn’t working.

 

Some Questions You Should Ask Yourself:

 

  • Do I need more assistance?
  • Am I the right person for this job or business?
  • Do I have the proper resources?
  • Is my time line to tight?
  • Do I need more time?
  • Do I need more training?
  • Is my budget realistic?
  • Is this something I really want to accomplish?
  • Can I see the goal as a reality?

 

Make sure you check to see where you are stopping yourself if  you’re not coming close to hitting your first timeline. 

 

Smart Goals – Attainable/ Achieve /Action

Are you going to be able to attain this?  And how? 

 

What  are your action steps to achieve this goal?  You want to write out how you will make this happen.

 

Example of How Your List Would Look:

 

  1. I will hire a sales team/assistant
  2. Expand my presence on social media
  3. Start blogging on a daily/weekly basis
  4. Hire an SEO expert to get listed with the major search engines
  5. Increase my marketing by 35%
  6. Have a monthly promotion or sale to increase awareness and boost business
  7. Join a Mastermind Group
  8. Update my website
  9. Adjust prices to meet with my objectives

 

This just isn’t going to happen because you wrote it down.  Although that part of the process is important.  It does help to put your goals on paper.  Writing them down or typing them creates a powerful message for your brain.

 

It is saying I believe in this.  Seeing it in writing gives your brain the hint that you are serious.  If you just think it, that isn’t the same thing.

 

It even helped me when I would say my goals out loud to the people working for me.

This created excitement and accountability.  Now I have to do this because I told everyone I would.  That alone was responsible for probably 75% of my success.

 

If you don’t have a team then say it to your coach or mentor.  But Say it…out loud.  And Mean it!

 

 

 

Smart Goals – Realistic

 

This is one of the most important aspects.  If you are setting a goal that isn’t realistic you are setting yourself up for failure. 

 

You don’t want to set goals that bring you down and take the air out of your sails.  The idea here is to grow and as you do so will your confidence. 

 

Some Questions to Ask Yourself:

 

  • Is this something you’re going to be able to do?
  • Is it attainable?
  • Do you have the knowledge and resources to achieve this?

 

 

If you start with goals that are almost impossible you won’t even come close to hitting them. That defeats the purpose and you bring down the whole team.    

 

You wouldn’t want to say I’m going to make one million dollars my first year in business.  That could happen but it’s not realistic.

 

That doesn’t mean you can’t dream big.  When setting goals you want to look at them as guidelines for your business.

 

To me a business plan and goal setting go hand in hand.  You need both of them to build a strong solid foundation on which to grow your business.

 

Smart Goals – Timely

The best thing to do is break down your goals so you can measure how well you’re doing along the way.

 

For Example:  Your Over View

 

  • The first year – write out what your first year will look like and what you need to do to achieve this.
  • Six months
  • One Month
  • Today (What will you do daily?)

 

 

Remember that your daily activities are the building blocks to achieving your goal.  You want to start strong.

 

Often the first thing you do sets the tone for the day.  This should be something that puts you in a positive mindset.

 

Once you have a success mindset you are ready for the day.  This doesn’t have to take long.  A great idea is to do a quick five-ten minute visualization of what you want your day to look like.

 

You can do a couple of stretches or listen to upbeat music.    Read something motivating like the four agreements.  A Tony Robbins video to get you motivated and ready to conquer the world. 

 

Next you can start out with a couple of minutes to review your goal and make a to-do list for the day.

 

Start with the one thing that will push your business forward towards hitting your goal.  You have the most energy at this time.  You don’t want to waste it looking at emails or watching TV.

 

Once you get that momentum going you will feel so great you will be unstoppable.

  1. Get to Know Your Followers on Social Media.

 

First of all are you taking the time to get to know your followers? There are many ways you can do this.  You may feel you don’t have time for this.

 

I can understand that, we are all busy.  Yes this takes a little time.  There are no shortcuts to success.  

 

The good news is the benefits of doing this far outweigh the time it takes.  If you want your social media accounts to make you money, you have to take the time to nurture them.

 

It’s pretty much the same with any relationship in your real life.  Treat people with the respect and manners you would in real life.

 

What would you say to a stranger who walked up to you and said,  “I don’t know you, but I’m great at what I do. You need to buy this right now.”  I don’t think you would be hiring that person anytime soon.

 

Yet tons of people use that strategy on social media every day.  I’ve had people I just met asking me to read their book, join their group or watch their video.

 

How much sense does that make?  You have to give people a reason to want to do those things.  Just asking them won’t work.  If we did that for everyone we wouldn’t have a second to do anything else.

 

The whole point of social media is to be “SOCIAL.”

 

What that means is when you can have conversations and meaningful interactions.  This does take time.  I know what you’re thinking.  How much time it will take depends on how well you utilize your platform.

 

Furthermore You want to carve out some time to really get to know the people in your network.  I have said before that one way to do that is take a small group of people each day and talk with them.

 

You don’t have to try to start long conversations with thousands of people.  You can accomplish this by balancing this out.   Finally try talking with five to ten people a day a couple of days a week.

  • Create posts that ask questions that will promote conversation.

 

  • Don’t wait for your followers to come to you. Go to their posts and comment, ask questions and participate.

 

  • Engage with them beyond the simple like or one quick comment.

 

 

A great example is by thinking of yourself at a networking event.  When you are at a networking event you introduce yourself.  That leads to a conversation and getting to know the person you’re talking with.

 

The more you know your followers the better you will be able to adjust your posts. Your blogs, products and programs to meet their needs.  Keep that in mind when asking questions.

 

 

Social Media Strategy –  Be Creative

 

 

  1. Think Outside Of The Box.

 

 

Most Importantly You Want to Capture Your Audience and Keep Their Attention.

 

When your posting come up with tips questions and motivational sayings that are original.  You can do this by putting the idea or quote in your own words.

 

Since there isn’t much new under the sun.  Therefore what you want to do is put your take on it.

 

Examples of How To Put Your Own Take On Things:

 

 

  • What’s your way of achieving something?

 

  • What obstacles did you overcome?

 

  • What were the steps you had to take to get there?

 

  • What’s your opinion on a topic?

 

  • What’s an easier way to achieve something?

 

 

Above all this will give your posts your own voice.   People want to hear from you.  Don’t be afraid to stand out and be unique.  Your audience will appreciate  hearing a different angle or perspective.

Therefore let people see the upbeat happy part of your life.  Show the real you.  That doesn’t mean you should come off as if you have no problems.   It’s okay to let people know what you are dealing with.

 

What struggles you have encountered and how have you overcome them.  Because you want to let your followers know that everyday isn’t perfect.

 

Hence your audience will relate to you more if you show you’re human too.  That doesn’t mean you have to disclose all your personal problems

 

Besides that people are tired of looking at big businesses that have no face.  They don’t share their feelings.  Therefore everything is cookie cutter.  You want to go beyond that.

 

Most importantly letting people in to experience with you the fun exciting things you are doing, is a great way of giving that personal touch.

 

Stay relatable and humble and you will see quality comments and engagement.

 

Most noteworthy there is nothing more lonely than a large account with thousands of likes and two comments.  That means that person isn’t making comments on anyone else’s posts.

 

Most importantly have fun.  Make friends and business associates and your experience will be profitable and enjoyable.

 

Above all follow people back when you know the person is someone you want to associate with. Don’t show people it’s a one way street.

 

Finally Everyone wants to be followed.  Do you want people to follow you?  Of course you do. We all do. Don’t be one of those accounts where it’s all about them.

Creating a brand for your business is essential to your success.  Don’t make the mistake so many new business owners do and leave that part out all together.

 

You want to stand out in the sea of millions.  That is exactly what I’m going to show you how to do.

Are you wondering if your branding is working?  That is another area of concern for most small business owners.  They can’t afford a branding expert so they do it themselves.

Creating A Brand – Who Are You?

 

 

  1. You Must Have a Niche.

 

 

For instance if you’re a life coach what kind of life coach are you?  The more exact the better this works. 

 

If  your specialty is marketing you would be a Marketing Coach.   If your expertise is health you would be a weight loss coach or nutritional coach.

Creating A Brand – What’s Special About You?

 

 

  1. What Do You Do That Stands Out?

 

 

What special skills and abilities do you have?   What have you accomplished?  You want to create a picture here so people understand what you offer that no one else does. 

 

Start brainstorming until you come up with an outstanding list that outlines your accomplishments.   In my case I have twenty plus years of experience.  That would be something you would want to highlight. 

 

I have also won over 75 high achievement awards in marketing and sales.  That is something else I highlight on all my social media, website and my email signature.  

 

If you have ever won anything or you have any credentials, special schooling.  You may even be certified like I am.  These are all things you want to use.

 

You want to lead with these special qualifications.   Remember you need to get people’s attention.

 

You don’t have long to do that on the Internet.

 

 

Creating A Brand –  You’re Personality

 

 

  1. Every Brand Has a Personality.

 

Are you serious?  Is your approach more laid back?  Are you spiritual?  Do you have a positive side to you?  Are you humorous?

 

Decide what you want to show to the world.  If you’re a life coach and your specialty is meditation.  You would want to play up the spiritual aspect of your brand.

 

Be you most of all.  If you’re not authentic it will show in everything you do.  Let the most interesting part of your personality shine.  Boring never won over anyone! 

 

 

Creating A Brand – What Does The World Think of You

  1. You Want to Control How You are Represented.

 

 

It’s important to know what your clients are saying about you?

 

Do your research to see what others think of you.  One thing you can start with is asking your followers what they think you do?  Can they explain it?

 

This will tell you if you have a clear message.   Most importantly from that information you can make changes.

 

Once you know your niche.  And have decided what makes you stand out.   You have identified your personality.  Now it’s time put that out into the world. 

 

You need a tag line.  I like to take the tag line one step further.  It’s called a HUB statement: Hottest Undeniable Benefit.

 

This way people know what you offer who your clients are and what they will get if they work with you.

 

Mine is:  Partnering with entrepreneurs and professionals to create balanced lives while earning more money. 

 

The tag line you use on your website should also be on your social media.  The same with any logos or profile pictures.

 

Hence you want to be recognized across the board on all platforms.  That’s what branding is. You want to have a similar look and feel on all your social media.

 

If you have specific colors for your website your social media should use those same colors. 

 

Do a search on Google to see what if anything people are saying about your company.  If you haven’t yet created a Google Authorship you want to do that.  

 

This is a short bio of your background and what you offer.  It will come up in the search results when people Google you.  It’s a great idea to have that in place.  It looks professional.

 

Creating A Brand – Social Media

 

 

  1. Creating Original Content That is Consistent With Your Brand.    

 

You want to create a social media plan.  This would include the different types of posts you should put out as a brand.

 

Understand each social media platform has a different feel.   You want to change your voice and content based on what social media platform you’re using.   I’m not talking about changing your look and feel.  

 

Often what works well on Twitter won’t do well on Instagram.   Twitter is known for sharing other people’s content.   Make sure to use that benefit as well as create your own content.  Have a nice balance.

 

Successful Posts For Social Media:

  • Contests
  • Giveaways
  • Come up with your own marketing or success tips
  • Original Images
  • Ask questions that help you get to know your audience
  • Post pictures and videos that help your audience get to know you
  • Use a slide show to give people an idea of what you offer
  • Post personal pictures of your vacations, family moments, your animals

 

Take the time to design your images or take your own pictures.  Create original tips that help solve your target markets problems.

 

Most importantly you don’t want to sound like everyone else.  It’s difficult to come up with completely original ideas.  The best way to combat this is use your voice or your opinion when sharing a motivational quote or success tip.

 

Certainly you want to think about what will draw people in.  The idea is to get them actively participating with your brand. 

 

Finally don’t post the same thing every day.   Mix it up!  Show people what you know and who you are.

Therefore let them in so they feel they know you.  Emotion is what triggers a response from people.  Don’t be afraid to tell your story.

 

Explain how you or your company arrived at the place you are today.

 

Similarly you can communicate your struggles and how you overcame them.   Share what your mission statement is. 

 

Furthermore reveal pictures of your staff or your offices if you have them.   If you have a video that demonstrates what you offer, add that to the mix.   

 

Most importantly make this page personal as well as professional.  This way your reader feels they know who you are.  This is where the relationship building starts.

 

Finally you want to take it from a cold corporate feeling of,  “who cares.”   To a warm and fuzzy feeling of we have been in your position and understand you.

  1. Facebook groups.  You can start one or participate in one regularly.
  2. LinkedIn has forums, groups and discussion platforms where you can answer questions and post your blogs.
  3. Quora is another place you can connect and answer questions.  You can post blogs as well as start your own group.
  4. Instagram has live stories now.  You can get people to participate on Instagram with contests and follow parties.
  5. Starting a podcast is another great way to brand yourself as expert in your field.

 

Above all as a brand you should be creating these contests and parties as well as participating in them.   That way people look to you as the leader in your industry. 

If  you have a weak showing on social media people will think your brand is weak.

Instagram Tips –  Building Your Following  With The Right Hash Tags

 

 

  1. It’s Important to Build a Targeted Following.

 

This is true on any social media platform.  On Instagram the way to do that is a little different. 

 

You can of course follow other people who have the same interests you do.  You can follow your competitors followers as well.

 

But the number one way to get followers on Instagram is through hash tags.  Not just any hash tags but the accurate hash tags.

 

I give you some examples of what I mean by accurate.  You’re looking for hash tags that attract the people you want to follow you.  If you’re a life coach you should try some of these hash tags:

 

  • #lifecoachingtips
  • #lifecoaching101
  • #onlinebusiness
  • #socialmediatips
  • #workingfromhome

 

Now let’s take it a bit further.  Use hash tags that describe what your posting.  Also use long tail hash tags. 

 

 

For instance if you’re posting something that tells people how to grow their business these are examples of successful hash tags:

 

  • #workfromhomesuccess
  • #makeyourdreamscometrue
  • #youcandoanything

 

These work great for motivational posts that give people tips. 

 

  • #howtogrowyourbusiness
  • #socialmediamarketingtips
  • #motivationalsuccesstips
  • #howtomakethingshappen
  • #bestwaytostartyourday
  • #wordsofwisdom
  • #Startingahomebasedbusiness
  • #onlinebusinessmotivation

These hash tags are great  because you are not competing with as many people. If you just used #motivation then you would have millions of posts to compete with.

 

You should do some experimenting on your own.  Not all hash tags are the same.

 

I found that when I used #girlpower it brought in people who worked out.    When I used #travel it brought in travel agencies and world travelers.

 

You want to pay attention to who is responding to your hash tags.  This can save you a lot of time and energy.

 

Now when I post my travel pictures I decided to change it up by using:  

 

  • #vacation
  • #funtimes
  • #amazingphotos
  • #freetime
  • #thegoodlife
  • #ladybosslifestyle
  • #successfulentrepreneurlife

 

These produced a different set of people who were in my target market.

 

 

Instagram Tips – Hash Tags That Bring Results

  1. Change Your Hash Tags on Each Post

 

I’ve found that using the same hash tags over and over will often bring the in the same people.  You want to mix it up so it attracts a different target market. 

 

 

You can only use 30 hash tags per post.

 

I suggest using as many as possible up to that number.  If you use more it will completely wipe away your entire post except for the picture after you post it.  Make sure you count your hash tags before you post. 

 

The ones you use in your post count as the thirty minimum.  I made that mistake and believe me it wasn’t fun having to rewrite my entire post again.

 

Some hash tags you might want to try to get more followers and likes are, #instalike and #instagood. 

 

#instalike  means that you will like the persons post back.  You don’t have to follow them if they are not in your target market.  But you should at least like their post back as long as it’s not vulgar or offensive.

 

#instagood means the post is special.  That tends to pull in a lot of people as well.  Both of those will help you build your following much faster.

 

 

Instagram Tips – Have a Plan For Your Content

 

 

  1. Don’t Post Random Pictures Just Because.  Each Post Should Have a Purpose.

 

 

Posting once a day is more than enough on Instagram.  This way it allows you to engage more with the people commenting on your posts.

 

When I say have a plan I mean decide what you want to gain from the post. 

 

If your goal is to get people to read your latest blog on your website.  Post a picture that has to do with what your blog is about.  You can even use the main picture from your blog.

 

If it doesn’t have any words on it I suggest adding them.  When I did this I used the main picture I used for my blog.   It didn’t have any words so I added:

 

” Are you lost when it comes to selling online?”

 

The picture was a beautiful women in a designer gown walking alone, down the middle of the street.  She was in the desert with sand covering most of the street.

Instagram Tips – How To Get People To Read Your Posts

 

 

  1. To Accomplish This You Use The Line Right Below Your Picture.

 

 

That is what everyone will see.  That line has to make people hit the more link.  To read on.  You want something they can’t resist that pulls them in. 

 

Your plan here is that they read your blog post.  With that in mind you have to get them to read your Instagram  post first.   

 

Asking them a question in that space has worked well.  Promising them there are tips or secrets to come is another great option.

 

Explaining what they get if they read your post has also worked well.

 

Whatever you decide to use in that first line under your picture needs to grab their attention.

 

Instagram Tips – Getting People To Take Action

  1. You Want Them To Go To Your Website.

 

In order to do this make sure your post is not one long paragraph.  Break each thought up making it easy  to read.  Keep each thought interesting and short.

 

Give them a taste of what is to come if they read your article.  What I have done in the past is post the first paragraph of my article in small bites under my picture.

 

Then I tell them what to expect in my blog post once they go to my website.   I make them a promise that I do keep of what they will GET if they read it. 

 

In essence I am letting them sample a little and selling the rest.  This balance has worked extremely well.

 

 

Instagram Tips – Know What You Want People To Do Once They Get To Your Website

 

 

  1. In Addition to Reading Your Article You Should Have A Goal in Mind.

 

Mine is to get them to sign up for my success tips.  This is what they see when they first go to my website.

  1. Have a Selection of Different Types of Posts.

 

You want people get a feel for who you are.

 

Let them see your knowledge in business.   Give them a glimpse of who you are personally.  Share your wins and acknowledgements. 

 

Post tips that help them solve their problems.  This way they can get a feel of what kind of knowledge you have.

 

Post questions so you can engage with your followers and get to know them.

 

You can ask many types of questions.  Change it up from week to week.  I asked people what’s the one thing they haven’t yet accomplished?  

 

 

This gave me ideas of what people needed from me.  You can build a product or class around those answers.

 

Another week I asked what everyone was grateful for.  This helps the bonding process.  You are getting to know your followers so they become friends not followers.

 

I also post inspirational messages that help motivate people and give them hope.  When I do this I share with them in with my post on how I got to where I am.  Sometimes I will share about overcoming an obstacle.

 

This helps people see that you are a person too and have problems just like they do.

 

I post personal pictures of my family and vacations.  When I do that I don’t post any type of sells pitch under those posts.  They are only there for relationship building.

 

If you post something under those personal posts people will never see you as a person.  They will only see you as someone trying to sell them.

  1. It’s Not Enough to Post Something and Simply Like Other People’s Posts.

 

 

You want to do the best you can to read their posts and respond. 

 

At the same time when people are responding to your posts if it’s relevant ask them questions.  Respond back to them with more than just thanks. 

 

It’s fine if you can’t always do that.  Have certain posts where you know you are going to make time for engagement.

 

We are all busy and you can’t respond back personally in a long conversation with every person on every post.

 

Plan out the posts you are going to do that with.   This way you get to know who your followers are.   What they like what they don’t like.

 

This opens the window into understanding your audience.  It also builds trust.  People do business with people they know like and trust.

 

 

Instagram Tips –  Look At Your Statics To See What is Working

  1. You Have Tools On Your Instagram Account That Tell You How Many People Visited Your Website.

 

It will also tell you how many people visited your profile.  What is the age demographic of your followers.  Are they male or female.

 

It’s important you gauge these stats.  You want to know which posts are getting people to visit your website. 

 

You may have a post that has hundreds of likes but if no one clicked on your website.  You don’t want to post that type of picture when you know you are trying to sell your class or product.
